Can the Power of Attorney file a consumer complaint?

Yes, a power of attorney can file a consumer complaint on behalf of the complainant. In such a case, the complaint has to be filed in the name of the complainant but the power of attorney can sign the complaint on behalf of the complainant. However, a copy of the power of attorney should be attached along with the complaint.

In Jagannath Mutreja vs Uttar Pradesh Awas Evam Vikas (Revision Petition no. 4516 of 2014), the National Commission (NCDRC) observed that power of attorney holder can file complaint on behalf of the complainant.
